Ethan went on his very first field trip this morning! His student teacher, Miss Danielle, planned for his class to visit a local farm so that they could ride a tractor, feed cattle, and pet farm animals. He was counting down the days all week and popped up out of bed this morning shouting, "It's Friday! I go on field trip today! I ride a school bus!"
He held hands with his friend, Addison, while they walked to barn to see the animals. The barn was set up super cute. They had straw bales set up in a semi circle. On top of each bale was a piece of paper and a cup with a child's name on it. The kids found their names and sat on their bales with their assigned adult. I was so happy to be able to attend the trip with Ethan and share in his excitement.
After introductions, the kids were called up to use their cups to scoop up some feed to add to the bucket. It was then used to call the cattle in.
The three calves were adorable. The two on the right are twins!
Next, Ethan's group got to go out and take turns riding the tractor. They looked so cute up there on such a huge piece of equipment. We were told that the farmers can now program a computer to drive the tractor for them and sometimes they play games while the computer is driving! They've come a long way in the past decade.
The tires were so large, that Ethan and his friends, Addison and Ben, fit inside one together.
After the tractor ride, we headed back to the barn to pet the farm animals.
The last thing on the list was to see the chickens and the different shades of eggs that they lay. Ethan wanted to play in the chicken coop because it looked like a play house.
And here's a picture of Ethan with Miss Danielle. He loves her and enjoyed every minute of the field trip that she planned. He loved it so much, that he wanted me to take him back to the farm after we picked up Jacob.
