Winter Storm Ion

Winter Storm Ion is making its way through our city today and the snow is beautiful.  It wasn't cold out this morning, so Ethan and Jacob played outside for awhile.  However, the temps are supposed to drop to between 25 and 50 degrees below zero tonight!  These will be the coldest temps in 20 years!  Lots of friends are without power, so we are hoping to be spared a power outage. If not, we will all bundle up together to keep warm.
Megan was scheduled to work at Walgreen's today from 12:00 to 8:00.  Since we had 8 inches of snow on the ground and it was still heavily falling, I decided to drive her since I have more experience and 4 wheel drive. At 1:30, we learned that there was a State of Emergency declared and that only emergency vehicles were allowed on the roads. We, then, made the decision to call Megan's boss to inform her that Megan would not be able to complete her shift and that we were going to be picking her up early. Kenny drove about 20 mph, but everyone is home now, so we can all relax and breathe a sigh of relief.
Here are some pictures from earlier today:

  1. While we don't want the nasty roads and temps, we all want to come play in the snow!! Looks like so much fun. It's supposed to be 6 degrees here tomorrow morning. I've never seen it that cold here.
