Two weeks ago was Ethan's last day of speech at the Rowe Center. He didn't test out, but he will receive speech services at his school next year, so we won't be returning. I will forever be grateful for the clinicians that have helped him improve his speech semester after semester. Miss Kaliee was his clinician this past semester and although we had a rocky start with Ethan's behavior, it was amazing in the end. They formed a great bond and I could tell that she really loved him. He loved her too. She got him a bag full of going away gift that revolved around all of his interests. She even got him a book about going to kindergarten with a handwritten message inside the front cover. It's a keepsake for sure. She didn't leave Jacob out either. She gave him a smaller bag, but it was overflowing with all things Avengers and Spider-Man, which was so thoughtful.
Sometimes when Jacob would get bored, I would take him to the cafe in the atrium for a little snack while we waited for Ethan to finish up. Because we spent 7 semesters there, Jacob developed a special relationship with the "Cookie Lady". We don't even know her name, but they had a sweet connection and she even recognized us when we would see her out. Jacob ordered one last cookie and got his picture taken with his special friend.
Everyone who works at the Rowe Center has been absolutely fabulous and extremely friendly.
So long, Rowe Center! You've been good to us!
Shout out to the cookie lady. She made Jake's life easier.
