Carter's class starts their overnight field trip today! It's called the Hoosier Expedition. He has been looking forward to it all year, especially since Kenny gets to be one of the chaperones. Carter is all about "guy time" these days, so I am happy that they get to share this experience together.
Today, they will travel to Spring Mill State Park, the Gus Grissom Museum, visit the nature center, tour the Pioneer Village, and do the "Creek Stomp" and "A Snake's Life" program with a naturalist. This evening, they will travel to Camp Rivervale, have dinner and a pioneer school simulation, sing campfire songs, and go for a wagon ride. That is one jam-packed day with a bunch of fourth graders! Poor Kenny didn't even get home from work last night until after midnight, and they had to be at the school by 6:45 a.m. He will probably be the first one asleep tonight!
Tomorrow, they will eat breakfast at the camp, and then head to Marengo Caverns, where they will take a tour. Afterward, they will have lunch and then proceed to Lincoln Boyhood National Park. They are due back at the school at 6:00. I can't wait to hear all about their adventure. Carter's teacher is going to provide everyone with a DVD of the trip, so it will be fun to watch it with them and will serve as a nice souvenir.

That sounds like a great field trip! That's great that Kenny got to go with him for some father/son bonding time.
