Boys and Bugs!

Ethan and Jacob have a fascination with bugs.  On our way to take the big kids to school today,  we saw quite a few on our garage and front porch.  They were still there when we returned, so we explored them.

The first one we examined was on the garage door.  Ethan was ecstatic about it looking like a leaf.  Jacob just loved shouting, "Geen!" and "Bug!"

The next little critter was a grasshopper that we found laying on its side on the front porch.  I scooped it up with a piece of card stock so the boys could get a better look at it.

Evidently, Jacob wanted a closer look!

Finally, we found a locust.  It was also on the porch and was laying on its back.  As soon as I turned him over, he fluttered his wings to let us know that he was still alive.  The boys thought that was great!  I scooped him up with the card stock too, and he seemed to like the attention.

After the bug exploration, we headed in to eat breakfast.   After cleaning up, we got out their play dough and 3-D bug stampers, which were a big hit!

It's so much fun to be the mother of boys!  It gives me the chance to view dirt, mud, and bugs with excitement!
