We had our little party tonight to celebrate all that Ethan can do even with the diagnosis of apraxia. Two years ago, he couldn't even say his name. A year ago, he couldn't answer questions. Today, he can do all of that and a whole lot more. We continue to be amazed by the progress he makes and how hard he works to do some of the things we take for granted.
Grandparents from both sides of the family came to our little celebration. It means so much to us that Ethan has supportive grandparents that have cheered him on along since the time he was born. The rest of our kids helped us celebrate as well. Megan even got permission to leave guard practice early because her little brother means so much.
We decorated the dining room with blue and white balloons and blue stars for the party. Ethan was elated! The boys and I made cupcakes in the afternoon and had one with a candle in it for each guest in attendance. As I handed a cupcake to each guest, they took time to make a wish for Ethan's future and then blew out the flame. Ethan was very attentive and clapped like crazy for everyone. It was very touching to hear the love behind the words that everyone spoke, and it warms my heart to know that Ethan has made a positive impact on the lives around him. He truly is an amazing kid and a blessing to us all.
So cute! It's neat that you guys had a party for him. He sure is one special guy. We can't wait to see him (and everyone else!). Kenna says she thinks the cupcakes look good and wishes she could have one. :)
