While Megan was away at a guard competition yesterday, the rest of us headed to Indianapolis to pick up her new car. She knew that we had been looking and had told us that she liked the Toyota Camry, but had no idea that she would wake up to one today. We picked it up yesterday, and Kenny drove it home. Megan wasn't due home until 1:00 in the morning, so we were able to hide it in the detached garage overnight. Ethan had his first soccer game of the fall season this afternoon, so we told her that she needed to get some driving time in and to get her permit. We then asked her to get Ethan's soccer ball out of the garage for us while we loaded up the boys. She had a hard time unlocking the garage and it was hard for all of us to wait. It was so sweet to see how excited Carter was for her, and he couldn't wait for her to open the door. When she did, she immediately saw the car. Her look was priceless, but I was unable to capture it with the camera.
The plan now, is for her to get in as much driving time as possible, take the written portion of the driving test within the next two weeks, and then to take the actual driving test by October 1st. She could have gotten her license about six months ago, but didn't have enough driving hours logged and didn't want to take her test with my vehicle, which she thinks is too large. She was afraid she wouldn't be able to pass the parallel parking test. Now that she has a car of her own, she can use it for the driving test.
She is a good kid, who gets good grades and is very deserving of her new car.
Now, here's to passing the test and getting the license.
WOW! She is one lucky girl. We will pray for her safety as she begins to drive on her own.
