I had been wanting to make homemade applesauce with the boys for awhile now, and since my mom is a retired kindergarten teacher and used to make it with her classes, I asked her to come over to show us how it's done. She brought her special equipment and even brought the apples!
My mom and I cut the apples into wedges, and the boys used plastic knives to cut the wedges into chunks.
Then, into the pot they went!
Grandma and Ethan added sugar....
....cinnamon and water.
Ethan gave the pot a big stir and Grandma put it on the stove.
While we waited for the apples to cook, Grandma shared the story of the little house with a chimney, no doors, no windows, and a star inside. Here is Ethan checking out the "star".
Next, it was time to grind the cooked apples and make the sauce.
It was surprisingly easy for the boys.
After cooling in the fridge for a bit, it was time to eat it.
It was pretty tasty!
