Over the weekend, we traveled north to visit my aunt and uncle, and grandma and grandpa. My cousin, Brett, lives nearby and offered to surprise the boys with a tour of one of his fire stations. We kept it a secret in case we weren't able to go at the last minute, but it all worked out and we loved it! Brett showed us their kitchen, workout area, where they bunk (which is actually in their very own rooms), and last but not least, the firetruck and equipment.
The boys got to pretend to drive the truck and got to honk the horn, which they loved! We also got to try on Brett's helmet and a mask, and learn to use a gadget that aids in finding people in the dark. At the end of the tour, Brett presented Ethan and Jacob with little firetrucks for them to keep.
It was a fun afternoon and by far, the best firehouse visit we have ever had. I'm proud of Brett for risking his life to serve others in his community.
WAY TOO COOL! The boys look so excited. What a fun time. Wish we could have been there too.
