Carter and Grandpa Time

Yesterday, Carter got the chance to spend most of the day with Grandpa.  My dad picked him up at 8:00 in the morning so that they could go fishing.  Carter enjoys the time just hanging out with him.  Sometimes they go out to breakfast and then to the Lowe's workshops where they build things.  Yesterday, they just hung out at my parents' house fishing, and shooting Carter's gun.  It must have been Carter's lucky day, because he caught an 18 inch catfish!  It's always exciting to catch a big one!  From what I hear, Carter did a great job of reeling it in and keeping the line up.  Grandpa had to eventually scoop it up with a net.
After fishing, they got Carter's gun out and headed back to the range that my dad has set up for him.  He got to shoot cans and thought that was pretty cool.  He said that he likes shooting the cans more so than the targets.  After shooting practice, they had ham sandwiches for lunch.
The rest of the kids and I picked Carter up after lunch and the little boys were especially excited to see him.  Ethan was proud of his big brother and talked for the rest of the evening about Carter catching a fish.  Pretty soon, it will be Ethan and Jacob out there fishing with Grandpa, but for now, it is Carter's special time.

  1. Sounds like a great day for Carter! Conner would be super jealous! I wish like crazy that one of Conner's grandpas lived near us, in order to do this exact kind of thing with. Tell Carter 'way to go' on the big catch! Conner is already lobbying to go up to "Uncle Russ'" for 2 weeks next summer.
