First Cross Country Meet

Carter attended his very first cross country meet yesterday after school.  His day began very early with a team breakfast.  On the mornings of after school meets, the team and the coaches arrive to school at 7:30 and then walk over to the church next door for a big breakfast.  Yesterday, they were served pancakes and bacon.  Carter said that it was good.  Otter Creek really does have a great running program and they take the time to make the kids feel special.
Carter rode the bus to Sarah Scott, and Megan and I met him there.  Kenny was supposed to get off of work  in time to attend the meet, but there was a mix up with the scheduling and then a patient was late, so he didn't make it.  Both he and Carter were bummed about it, but there will be other meets and at least I got some pictures for Kenny to see.

Stretching before the race.

 The starting line.

 They're off!

Carter, on his first of three laps around the school.

Finishing strong, just feet from the finish line.

After crossing the finish line, the kids were given a numbered stick.  They had to check in with the recorder to turn in the stick and give her their name for ranking.  Carter was number 23.  I don't know how many kids there were total, but I think he finished in the middle of the group and we are still waiting for his time to be posted.

It was exciting to see Carter run in an actual meet.  He runs in his first invitational this weekend.
