Math Bowl

Carter participated in a Math Bowl competition tonight as part of his school's fourth grade team.  He and his teammates have stayed after school every Wednesday for months in preparation for the big event.  There were four rounds of the competition.  For each round, three students worked as a team to solve seven problems.  The entire fourth grade team correctly answered 21 of the 28 problems.  Not too bad for fourth graders!  Our school had a fifth grade team as well, and the other teams consisted of fourth and fifth graders.  I appreciate Carter's teacher, Mrs. Athey, for taking the time to coach the math team and give the students a wonderful academic opportunity.

A very nervous Carter before the competition.

Carter and his teammates who participated in round four of the competition.

Apparently, he was thinking very hard!

He is admiring his participation ribbon.

Proud parents with their little "Mathlete".
Way to go, Carter!!
